CORPORATE PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

The main job function plans, organizes, and coordinates the activities and operations of procuring dry goods, supplies, condiments, film, and any other miscellaneous goods needed for daily production. Helps to analyze inventory levels to determine optimal ordering quantities. Communicate relevant information with departments daily. Coordinates with plant procurement team to enter purchase orders into AS 400 systems and update as necessary. This position interfaces with the Marketing Team, Plant's Procurement, National Network Planning, Scheduling, Shipping and Receiving, Production, Customer Service, and Transportation to ensure that department and company goals are continuously attained (order fill, safety stocks and cost reduction initiatives).  Develop new process improvement procedures with cross functional teams. Manage supply chain projects with corporate mission critical initiatives, implement, sustain, control, and measure.

This position interacts in a daily basis with vendors/contractors to guarantee supply of all materials and services needed by the organization. Develops/negotiate new suppliers/new solutions to drive production cost down and increase productivity/efficiency. Interact with other staff member and corporate legal team in developing contracts while identifying potential risks that could cause the company legal, financial, or contractual harm. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, flow down requirements, and that contracts are in accordance with legal requirements, customer specifications, corporate policy and government regulations. Manage all contractual issues & changes to contracts and ensure changes are communicated to the appropriate internal staff as required. Prepare and maintain various reports and tracking mechanisms for both internal and external distribution. Provide advice and guidance to senior management and project staff on contractual matters. Review and analysis of RFPs/RFQs and other required documentation. Perform other duties as assigned. 

This position reports to the National Supply Chain Manager.

Desired Skills:

Purchasing knowledge of packaging material in the fresh produce industry such as film, clams and labels. Understanding/Good knowledge of film blowing and printing process. Excellent negotiation techniques. Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MRP skills. Must possess demonstrated analytical abilities and be able to develop logical solutions to opportunities as they develop. Ability to maintain focus and direction in a fast pace environment and have good problem-solving skills. Must be a proven team player that utilizes coaching and company values to meet and exceed customer expectations. Good communication skills: verbal and written. Must be available days, nights, and weekends. 

Requirements Experience:

  • 3+ years of procurements experience and/or materials management. Experience in working with multiple facility Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies preferred.
  • Microsoft Office, Excel, and MRP skills-required
  • BA/BS Business/Materials Management, Finance, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.

Daily Duties:

  • Purchasing knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques. Must possess demonstrated analytical abilities and be able to develop logical solutions to opportunities as they develop.  
  • Analytical evaluation of plant inventories and supplier inventories and identify replenishment needs.
  • Analytical preparation and review of management reporting (actual, forecast, last year and plan) relating to all aspects of the supplier management. Effectively track progress against the company's operating plan, including coordination with business unit analysts. Ensure process provides timely, accurate and insightful reporting regarding business performance. - Develop and communicate financial analysis of changing business scenarios, including variance analysis versus plan, last year and prior forecast versus actual operating performance based on key metrics, key assumptions and historic operating performance. - Special projects including detailed operational analysis

Summary

This position has direct responsibility for the following specific activities:

(1) Works closely with suppliers to ensure that inventory levels are adequate to support manufacturing plants

(2) Ensures the establishment of supplier specific performance targets and metrics

(3) Review and address quality, service issues and resolution

(4) Facilitate process improvement opportunities

(5) Supports procurement department in the development and reporting of functional metrics

(6) Any/all other activities to meet cost reduction targets and optimize benefits

(7) Develop new suppliers

(8) Assist in developing and formulating company's packaging material budget
